...a positive solution in the media industry, but wouldn't this create a possible lack of knowledge about what is going on in our world? Isn't our current situation very violent? Do we need to be aware of these things happening in our world? Passing a law of this nature would definitely take a tole on the media industry given the percentage of movies and entertainment based on this nature of interest. Could this possibly create a problem with our economy? There is a certain age that should be appropriate to view programs of violent nature in the media. This should be monitored by the parent or guardian of any children between the ages of realization stages to adult. According to Brandon Centerwall, he states that, “Naturally as children get older they come to know better, but their earliest and deepest impressions are laid down at an age when they still see television as a factual source of information about the outside world” (Television and violent crime 1). Having enough parents re-direct interests of their children could help society eventually reach a less violent world for these young adults to live in. Yes, violence is a negative role model for society but I believe by taking all of the above into consideration and coming together to make sure that this information is expressed only to age appropriate groups will help reduce the negative impact it has on all of us. Although television contains such strong violence, there should not be a law passed because it is the parent’s responsibility to monitor what their children watch.
Our current situation with the war in Iraq surely portrays violence in its real form. This is real life and should be information that we are all aware of as a whole.
