The word vintage can not be separated from the wine industry, as the word itself is derived from the french word, vine, which means wine.
In the wine industry, there are a lot of factors that effect the quality of the wine produced. The soil condition, the air temperature, the intensity of the sunlight, the quality of the grapes, the sugar level of the grapes, the barrel ( where the grapes were being pressed ) and many other factors are very vital to judge the quality of the resulting wine. If the quality of the wine is good, then the wine will be labeled vintage.
