Springtime For Hitler
...especially in the 1930’s and the 1940’s. Many people know of the horrific events that were World War II and the Holocaust. A rise to power so quickly that the allied powers let get out of hand. Although it was easy for the German people to accept the man’s rise to power in their land being as he was promising things would get better and would get taken care of without people having to worry about it. One question still needs to be asked. How Did World War II affect the German People and their country as a whole in the years surrounding and well after the war?
The German president at the time was Von Hindenburg who, at the sight of Hitler’s Rise to power, offered Hitler chancellorship to avoid losing the election to him. A World War I war veteran from Austria, Hitler, was jailed previously to his chancellorship and had written a book, Mein Kampf (My Struggles), in which he described his feelings about Jews, Aryans, and Society’s imperfections. Upon Release Hitler formed a political party, The Nazi Party, who’s anti-Semitic beliefs and ostentatious leader were growing in popularity due to the inflation and stock market crash of 1929 in the United States further damaging their pre-existing fragile economy.
After World War I Germany had to pay reparations not only for being the loser of the war but also being the instigator of the initial battle. These reparations would put Germany in a vulnerable position for a strong leader to take hold but not before utter annihilation of their economy. To pay off their war debts Germany began printing more money creating inflation, which led to the lowered all around value of their German currency during the period (the mark).
