I. Introduction to ABC Inc.
Online shopping has become the largest and fastest way to find products and services since the dot com revolution began. ABC Inc. now being the strongest presence in retail and is expanding towards e-commerce by implementing online shopping. In doing this many factors both internal and external will have to be explored and implemented. Enforcing policies on the network is the main priority to provide solid security for the network. The long term goal for ABC is to acquire efficiently, providing real time monitoring of both transactions and security aspects of the business network.
II. Security Design and Operating System Environment
ABC Inc has a very high level of secure data being transmitted on a daily basis and there has to be many layers of security especially when addressing all the aspects and needs that they have requested. The Security Architecture of this network needs to be addressed before we can continue. We intend to implement a Microsoft Windows Environment for both the application servers and LAN PCs. Microsoft Windows dominates probably 90 percent of the user market so when it comes to compatibility and flexibility this is the way to go in a business environment.
VPN (Virtual Private Networks) are networks that use a public telecommunication infrastructure to connect multiple networks or help connect to private servers in a corporate environment. VPN’s are implemented with many variations and are less costly then having outsourced leased lines or dedicated lines if set up properly.
