Riordan Manufacturing is an established company that wants solutions to their business systems needs. A global company, owned by Riordan Industries (a fortune 1000 company) Riordan Manufacturing has facilities in San Jose, California (headquarters), Albany, Georgia, Pontiac, Michigan, and Hangzhou, China. Some of the products manufactured at Riordan include: various sizes of fans, medical stents, plastic bottles, heart valves, and other custom plastic parts (University of Phoenix, 2006).
Accounting and Finance
Existing Systems Components
Each of the entities has their own different Accounting and Finance Systems. Everything is consolidated at the Corporate Office in San Jose, California. All of the Accounting and Finance Systems have the same basic components. These components are: Payroll, General Ledger, Financial Reporting, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Invoicing and Shipping, Order Entry, Sales and Purchasing History, and Procurement. On top of those components, the Corporate Office has EDI, Barcode Reading, and Executive Decision Support System (EDSS) (University of Phoenix, 2006).
Current Situations
In the current situation, the license for a fully integrated Windows based ERP Manufacturing, distribution, and financial software application designed specifically for plastic processors and assemblers, obtained by the San Jose entity, but it does not include the source code application. A vendor developed software application with the attendant source code for their Fd & A and process application obtained by the Michigan entity runs on a pair of DEC Alpha’s, using the VMS operating system, VAX4000 workstations, and programmed in C.
