War and love are the eternal topics in literature, painting and whatever form related to arts, and movie is also included in. since movie is a way to represent some great events as well as record the neglected trivial aspects in our common life, movie makers always pay their attention to human being’s life and emotion and big changes of society. They describe wars in order to show the cruelty and damage, and they pay a tribute to love with a view to advocating kindness and happiness. Therefore, love stories under the background of war particularly seem to be mingled with sorrow and hope.
Part 1. The comparison between Forrest Gump and English Patient
Forrest Gump and English Patient are two representative movies share the same topic but emphasis different aspects. Both of them are the masterpieces of our era. At the first sight, you may think there is few similarity between them since they belong to different movie genre----- Forrest Gump is approximate to comedy while English Patient is somewhat to be a tragedy ------and they record things in different times---- Forrest Gump in the first half of 20th century while English Patient the second half of 20th century. It seems that the only similarity they share is that both of them movies. However, if you think twice about them, you may surprise to find that there are so many similarities between them two.
