...most American homes for years. This atrocity processes the very well known name of obesity. Obesity, an increased body weight caused by an excessive accumulation of fat (Obesity, American Heritage Dictionary), is a very serious problem that has been exponentially increasing during the last few years. The country is very well informed of the complications due to this issue; yet, the country continues to increase not only the amount of people who are considered overweight, but in the percentage of body fat they are overweight. In 2004, 142 million people, age 20 and older, were diagnosed as overweight or obese. Of this amount, 67.3 million were obese. To top off this dilemma, the number of children in the USA, who are considered obese, has skyrocketed. Seventeen point five percent of children ages 6-11 are overweight and adolescents, ages 12-19, were at 17 percent in 2004(Obesity Introduction, Centers for Disease Control.) So, not only have adults lapsed into a very bad behavior, but they have allowed their children to fall into the same traps. Obesity is one of the most deadly problems in the US because it leads to many complications; it is hard to reverse; and it is very easy to develop. A few of the many solutions to this problem could be altering a person’s diet; adding exercise to a personal routine; extreme solutions, such as surgery or a prescription pill; or having a mind to change.
Once, not too long ago, a young man named Tyler was very good friends with another young man by the name of Timothy. Timothy loved to eat and his size revealed this.
