Old or New Age?

With the presidential election just around the corner, many US citizens are sitting at home pondering who they should vote for. Who has a better foreign policy, health care goals, social security plans, or some list of other concerns they may have. Several people are then questioning what it takes to be a good leader. Must you have a family, look a certain way, speak a certain way, or have a specific style of leadership that parallels your own. In our democracy, the obvious answer is well, quite obvious, some form of democratic, do what they this is best for the greatest number of people, style. Yet within the ‘democracy’ there are stances that tend to differentiate one candidate from another. The difference between Republicans, Democrats, Independents and people who are spread across the board all posses some characteristic and have view points where the public agrees with or wishes to bring to their community. Usually, the ones in power and ‘successful positions’ are the people the congregation believe in and want to see there. Throughout the world many styles of leadership, and if we reflect on the past leaders we can uncover hundreds of more styles. Beginning with the pharaoh of Egypt, the emperor of Rome, to the monarch of Great Britain, we can unveil numerous different people who had different styles of leading their people. Which brings us to the next question, would a leader from the past be successful in the present time, and visa versa, could a present day leader as successful as they were now in the past?
