Abstract
ABN AMRO Mutual Fund was incorporated on the 27th of May 2004. Their total assets as on 31st March 2005 were Rs.923 Cr. With only 8 schemes (2 open-end equity, 2 open-end debt and 4 open-end short-term debt) rolled out, they are new to this business and are trying to establish themselves and at the same time, find a hold in the Indian market. To establish them, ABN has to analyze the top funds in the country in terms of their performance, portfolio, risk and returns, which would enable them to come out with funds that would deliver returns equal to or better than the top funds.
The project aims to analyze the diversified equity funds from the top fund houses and identify their respective returns, volatility and performance ratios. At the same time, the project tries to educate the common man with the benefits of investing in equity funds systematically (Systematic Investment Planning).
The project begins with collecting all available information regarding the mutual fund industry and also the funds that have to be analyzed.
