In the University of Phoenix Simulation; Managing Across the Organization, a newly positioned Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Good Sport; a fitness equipment manufacturing company, is faced with power distribution of the company’s Executive, Middle, and Lower management level’s in the organization. The company’s CEO allows Executive management to authorize budget within the organization, and greater flexibility in policy implementations. Middle management will have control over mid-cycle performance evaluations within the company, and will suggest any company goal changes. Lower management has the freedom to conduct in-house weekly meetings, and more recruitment decision making. Managers use power and politics to coordinate and support the work of organizational members and to meet organizational objectives. Power and politics are usually assumed when is a conflict over the best structure to adopt, best use of available resources, and the flexibility to use available resources. This conflict is further motivated when various types of personalities are teamed in an organization. (University of Phoenix, 2004).
Communication and leadership is the key to retaining employee morale and if the company does this the right way the company will bring a competitive advantage helping the organization evolution or transformation.
