Project Managers needs to become agents of change and inspire commitment for successful delivery of the project within the team. They need understand how to develop and nurture a geographically disparate team, with cultural, language and time differences. The focus is shifting from being just a Project Manager, who gets things done to being a Project Leader who inspires others to follow.

There is no substitute for face to face meeting among team members, this will help to build relationships, establish ties, facilitate trust and foster team spirit.

Leading – is the process of arousing enthusiasm and directing human resource efforts towards organizational goals
Leadership – is the process of inspiring others to work hard to accomplish important tasks
Leader – is person who exercises his or her leadership authority or mandate

In this case study we will be analyzing the fundamental problems within Thomson Industries and the managing of their projects. In any organization there are many challenges and obstacles that hinder project success and progress but in the event of an international geographically dispersed team, this is even more of a challenge. This case study will focus on highlighting the problems within the areas that form the basis of Organizational Performance and Improvement; and where the underlying causes for the problems are within Thomson Industries and the proposed solution.
