Introduction
Riordan Manufacturing, Inc. is a leader in the plastic injection molding industry. Riordan has been commended for its high-tech capabilities in generating groundbreaking plastic designs and takes pride in its meticulousness, accuracy, and excellent quality control. It is owned by a Fortune 1000 enterprise and has facilities located across the globe.
Riordan Manufacturing has locations in Hangzhou, China; Albany, GA; Pontiac, MI; and their Corporate Headquarters in San Jose, CA.
Hugh McCauley, COO, has requested for the Human Resource department, an integrated information system application. This technology would integrate the existing tools currently in use. The HRIS system currently being used was installed in 1992. It is a part of the financial systems package and keeps tracks of only the minimal personal employee information. The current information system keeps track of employee personal information such as name, address, martial status, date of birth, pay rate, exemptions for tax purposes, hire date, organizational information, and vacation hours.
Any changes to this information are submitted in writing (on special forms) by the employee’s manager and are entered into the system by the payroll clerk. Training and development records are kept in an Excel worksheet by the training and development specialist. Each recruiter maintains applicant information for open positions.
