...advanced method of finding information on the Internet by using text matching techniques to find relevant web pages for users. It was this innovation that allowed Google to become the world’s leading search engine. Google has expanded and grown through a series of new product developments, acquisitions and partnerships. Due to the competitive environment in which Google operates, it faces many challenges and problems. The factors causing these problems range from management, organisation and technology (Laudon & Laudon, 2007).
For Google to remain powerful, competitive and successful into the future, the company must continue to consider both the business and IT infrastructure ecosystems within which it operates and make sound decisions about what products to build on (Laudon & Laudon, 2007). If Yahoo or Microsoft are successful in providing similar or better services than Google, then Google’s success will be under threat.
This paper will address the problems and challenges that Google faces and whether their business strategies will enable them to be successful into the future.
