Should God Be Questioned?
...I know God exists whether in Human form or spiritual form, I am not totally sure. I was taught and I agree that having a strong belief in something does not necessarily mean that it is true. I wonder if actually our intense argument about the existence of God is a waste of time. Why should individuals show a dislike towards each other based on their faiths, reasoning, and beliefs? I do not think this is right.
Dawkins states that, “a man, whether a scientist or even spiritualist, can never disprove the existence of something” in The God Delusion” and also that “God certainly almost doesn’t exist”. Dawkins is trying to reveal the “truth” that there is no fact that proves the existence of God. Dawkins thoughts on the bible is that, they were collection of documents written by people within the first century. This could also be known as a tribal mythology that people actually believed in, and depended on, to show a sense of direction. The bible is an example of a Jewish mythology that Dawkins speaks about. The stories in the bible are all myths which have over the years bonded together and have a sense in connection to Christianity based on the ideology of Christianity.
People should not live in a society which is a lie, rather, should dwell in one which is truthful. From Dawkins point of view it seems that believing in the real world is like not believing in God, “things can always be solved with science” (Dawkins). Dawkins is simply abusing the fact that since science helps solve our problems then God having a part to play in our lives is an untruthful way of living unless we base our lives on believing that religion is a comforting thought which makes us feel good when we are wrong (forgiveness).
