Functions Of Managment

...are also known as the four functions of management. These four steps

are imperative for any successful business to not just thrive but to succeed. In a

company’s business plan these four functions are also covered. Everything we do in life

has to have a plan. We must organize. It always sets a good example to be a good leader

and we must monitor our plan. In the following pages I will describe the four functions

and talk about how they relate to the business world and my job as an Assistant Football

coach at a high school.

The first function of the four functions of management is the planning stage. This

is the management function of making decisions about the goals the company what’s to

achieve. The company sets itself goals to attain to be successful and fruitful. So as you

can see it takes careful planning and proper research to be successful at this stage. As a

football coach we meticulously plan for everything from practices to games. We spend

hours studying film and our opponents to match our best to there best. This stage of

planning happens every week for us during the season. It is imperative that we do well in

this stage to be successful on the field.

The next function is organizing. Once you set your plans in motion you will have

to organize your people, funding, and research. You will have to get the best people

attracted to your company. We have to attract the right students to play football. We

also have to organize our players into groups, varsity or junior varsity. We have to

organize our equipment before games. Organizing will probably take us the most amount

of time since there are so many details to manage.

Leading would be the third step in the four functions of management and a real
