“Friendship”
...Aristotle said this of friendship: “friendship consists of only one soul, inhabiting two bodies.”
The Bible says in Proverbs 17:17 A friend loves at all times…
And in Proverbs 27:17 it says “As iron sharpens iron, so a man sharpens the countenance of his friend.”
One anonymous quote says, “Friends are God’s way of taking care of us.”
Friends truly are God’s way of taking care of us. Through out my life I have been touched by important people that I am fortunate to call my friends. Friendship is a valuable gift not to be taken for granted. Today we will take a look at friends I have been blessed with in my life, famous friends in history and what makes a really good friend. Consider how you might be a better friend to those dear in your life and realize the friends you too have been blessed with.
Before I give some examples of friendship, let’s look at what makes a good friend… Alan McGinnis’, in his book The Friendship Factor explains ways to deepen your relationships and celebrates friendship as a whole.
The author points out that Jesus spent time much of his time pouring himself into a small group and limited his time with the crowds. He says “his teaching was filled with practical suggestions on how to befriend people and how to relate to friends.”
In John 21: 13-15, “Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends. You are my friends if you do whatever I command you. No longer do I call you servants, for a servant does no know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all things that I heard from My Father I have made known to you.”
