Attention deficit and hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is a disorder characterised by a persistent pattern of inattention and/or hyperactivity that is more frequent and severe than typically observed in peers. It remains the most common problem in childhood and is one of the most common neurodevelopment disorders , affecting 3-5% of school age children (Kirby and Kaplan, 2003) Among boys, it is said to be at least three times higher than among girls (Biederman, 2002), and in clinically referred samples the ratio is often as high as 6:1(Kirby and Kaplan, 2003). The aetiology of ADHD it is a genetic factor with a DNA variation in the serotonin system.
