It all at started when I was only 14, I moved out and went to Cincinnati, Ohio here I got my first job a s a general handyman for a white landowner. But because of a lack of opportunity I move to Cleveland Ohio. Here I taught my self enough about sewing machines to get a job as a machine adjuster for Roots and McBride. By 1907 I had decided to open my own business in the form of a tailoring shop that manufactured dresses, suites, and coats. It was hear that I came upon my first invention. I was attempting to the problem that came up during my time at the shop the problem that had come up was that the sewing machines that were used to make the cloths were scorching the fabric being sowed, so I when to work to find a solution. On night when I was experimenting with lubricants that would reduce the massive amount of friction and eliminate the scorching, wile working on the problem my wife call me to dinner I grabbed a peace of whirly pony cloth and wiped my hands on it. When I returned after dinner I returned to find out that the cloth had straitened out. this inurn led to my first invention the first human hair striating cream. This was later sold as G.A Morgan’s Hair Refinishing Cream.
But even after this success I did not stop inventing I went on to inventing the first gas mask. It consisted of a hood placed over the head of the user, a tube from this hood was provided with an inlet opening for air, the tube was long enough to enter a layer of air underneath the dense smoke or gas, this tube could then be placed beyond the reach of gas fumes and dust and through it pure air could be furnished to the user, the lower end of the tube was lined for some distance with an absorbent material such as sponge which was moistened with.
