MAJOR CHARACTERS
1) Robert Langdon
Robert Langdon is a renowned Harvard symbologist who is also the major protagonist in the story. As described in the book, although he is already in his forties, he continues to draw girls because of his captivating features and his low, baritone voice.
2) Sophie Neveu
Sophie Neveu is thirty-two year old cryptographer who joins Langdon in the fast-paced quest about the truth of her own self. She is the granddaughter of Jacques Saunière, whose unusual death, triggers the fast-paced adventure narrated in the story.
3) Bezu Fache
Bezu Fache is the captain of the Central Directorate Judicial Police. He is called the Bull by his subordinates because of his fierce personality.
4) Sir Leigh Teabing
Sir Leigh Teabing is a British friend of Robert Langdon. He studied in Oxford University and owns Chateau Vilette. He wore leg braces and walked with crutches due to polio he endured when he was young. He is also the main antagonist in the story although his identity as the Teacher is not revealed until the latter part of the story.
5) Bishop Manuel Aringarosa
Bishop Manuel Aringarosa is the head of Opus Dei, a clandestine organization under the Catholic Church which engages in extremely peculiar acts like the corporal mortification.
6) Silas
Silas is faithful servant of Opus Dei. He has ghost-pale skin which he has had since birth. He was the one commissioned by the Teacher to murder Sauniere, as well as the others who obstructed their path.
7) Lieutenant Jèrôme Collet
Lieutenant Jèrôme Collet is an official of the Direction Centrale Police Judiciaire (Direction Centrale Police Judiciaire).
