Mind mapping links a concept or issue with related concepts or issues. Unlike linear thinking modes (), it stimulates imaginations and creativity by connecting left and right brain thinking. Thus it is believed to harness the full range of one’s analytical and creative skills.

Origin
The concept mind mapping was first introduced by the British ‘popular psychology’ (refers to concepts and theories about human mental life and behavior) author Tony Buzan. He is also known as a business creativity guru. He came up with the idea when he was seeking a visual and faster was to outline the ideas on paper to support learning and memorizing. The concept is popular since the 60s.

According to him, 'traditional' outlines rely on the reader to scan left to right and top to bottom, whilst what actually happens is that the brain will scan the entire page in a non-linear fashion. It will enable you to think more creatively and incisively, plan more effectively, improve your memory and raise your effectiveness at work to ever higher levels.

Where is it used?
The mind map continues to be used in various forms, and for various applications including learning and educations (where it is often taught as ‘Webs’, ‘Mind Webs’, or ‘Webbing’), planning, and in engineering diagramming.
Mind maps can be drawn during by hand or by softwares packages during lectures or meeting.
