Popular culture is all about the “cool” and “new”. Fashion is a vital component to this global popular culture. It makes women question how they look.
Fashion is very important in our everyday lives. In the modern day we would like to think we can tell a lot about a person by the way that they are dressed. You might not notice it but people walking down the street look at you and judge you right away. Fashion is all about image and what we look like when we are in public. The clothes that we choose restrict us from going into certain shops that sell cheap clothes which our friends would not wear. We tend to think just because the piece of clothing is cheaper that it is not as good in quality.
A significant part of fashion includes brand names. Most of us teenagers tend to shop at stores such as American Eagle, Abercrombie and Fitch, Foxy Lady, Guess, Hollister, etc. Basically, we all dress the same because instead of being different, people tend to blend in with others. At these stores, the price of a simple sweatshirt can be up to $80.00. By this you can observe that just to keep up with the trend, people buy clothes of any price.
This year many different trends came in. “Gossip Girl" brings national attention to the shopping and spending habits of privileged teenagers growing up in Manhattan. Teenagers and young women tune in not only for the plot but also to judge the clothes. It shows how girls go out and spend two- hundred dollars on an outfit.
