Beowulf
...help me, I cannot get beyond the beautiful lyricism and haunting cityscapes to the crux of the book. Yes, the idea is that an ideology-less, material-void, no-frills, amoral existence lends itself to becoming a bum and finding the meaning of life, but how do the characters change? I don't see the characters going through a life-changing crisis; except some light ruminations, the book missed me as an audience. Maybe I have misunderstood something or do not possess the necessary, be it patriotism or historical perspective? Maybe my world view is too skewed to enjoy this book? Your thoughts?Crick Crack Monkey is set in Trinidad. I donot know how much you know about it. Trinidad is in the West Indians or better known as the Caribbean. It compares the life of the low class of society to the middle or upper class.

im from trinidad and i read the book. What is it really about- its about Tee's transformation from accepting who she was, being of a lower class and enjoying her time with Tantie. As tantie and auntie beatrice begin to fight for her custody and tee now has to live with aunty b. it shows her change from accepting her lower class life with tant***** now acting like the person she 1st hated-auntie beatrice. she also begins to somewhat look at tantie and toddan as disgusting for the things that they did like playing carnival and using racial terms against them. What she once thought of as fun is now disgusting and inhumane.
