As I draw end to my first of many classes at Axia, I have compiled a “one stop shop”, survival guide for use. It is broken down into 6 different topics. Each topic provides “down and dirty” techniques to overcoming distance learning and will help in achieving success in future studies. I will use my own experience with this class and my other class to make this as realistic as possible.
Introduction
At first it may seem overwhelming, but during these weeks it is really important to take it slow. When I first logged into Axia and saw the Home page I thought to myself, “Tim, what did you just get yourself into?!” The first couple of days I spent playing around with the online interface. As I started growing accustom to the layout and various tools, it became easier and easier. One area that I found I had trouble with was actually logging in and participating in class. Usually I would just go in post my homework, answer the DQ’s and logoff. Participation in class is important and it is one of those things I will cover in a later topic.
Introduction to Axias Educational Resources and Tools:
First thing first I would review the assignments page and possibly take a look into the final project. Get a rough idea of what you would like to do and keep it in the back of your mind. Also, download or use the calendar program on your computer to make an assignments due calendar. I found it much easier to look at. Take a couple of minutes to do this and you will save yourself valuable time in the long run.
During these weeks also go through the educational tools that Axia provides. Axia Library is a great tool to use to search for information. It is hard to understand at first but after playing around with it for sometime you will catch it. Use...
