...grandparents were, or even because of the environment they were born into. With the current age we live in transportation is key. Its how we get from one place to another, how our goods get to our local grocery store, and how we are able to make the world just plain work. With transportation being key to our survival at this point in our lives there is one, seemingly so simple, task that everyone who drives or is around vehicles should learn how to do: change a tire. It appears that with the way people are being raised it is not like those of earlier years. I would be willing to bet that a greater percentage of our previous generation, both men and women, are able to change a tire correctly
This is a task that seems so simple in the grand scheme of things that in my opinion most people, especially in my generation, do not know how to do it. Over the past few years I have come across quite a few occurrences where because the individual driving did not know how to change a tire it almost ended in an injury or severe damage to the vehicle in question, once including damage to the owners vehicle. I feel that with every driver’s first time on the road, weather it is through Drivers Ed or the home schooling version, this should be instituted as a test and if not passed the driver should not be able to get their drivers license. With all the road hazards out there a flat tire is very common. In fact just today while traveling a relatively short distance I saw 3 cars that were on the side of the road with flats. The saddest thing was that all of the people were standing by the flat tire just looking at the tire thinking, “well how am I going to fix this?” How many stranded vehicles on the side of the road cause accidents, simply because of a flat tire that they are there? Far too many in my book I think.
