Project ¡§operation Optimize¡¨ has effectively been delayed. Our competition is thought to be just months away from marketplace breakthrough. It is essential to the survival of the company to beat them to market with a possible product of our own. We have a very serious situation in which several of our department heads are in conflict. This conflict is not helpful to the company but it is the cause of the interruption in the project. We must fix this situation as soon as possible in order to get ¡§operation optimize¡¨ back on schedule.
As mentioned, there are many senior staff members that are unable to agree on a course action. Pat Lambert the director of marketing and Kelly Thomas the chief of the software development team does not agree with the capabilities of the programmers. He understands how long it takes to build the software. Thomas argues with management that even with his current staff, his team is already having enough things to do with existing systems. He believes that by putting additional burden of extra products is just too much to handle for his team.
