12 Angry Men Review

...12 Angry Men at Genesis Theater in Reading. I was actually surprised. I am not the type to enjoy plays, but the performance I witnessed on Saturday was great. I can actually say that I enjoyed it, and would like to see another play. I always took plays as a female thing that dealt with boring ideas that I wouldn’t care about or relate to. 12 Angry Men changed my mind. It was really interesting how they brought the play, I had just read, to life in front of me.
The costumes were a great addition to the play. The costumes complimented the setting. The 12 jurors were all in suits, which is uncommon today. The suits were all made of material that you would see in that time period. They reminded me of a suit that my grand father would wear. Therefore, you could believe that it was taking place in earlier times. Juror seven also had on a particular hat familiar with that time period. The clothing also gave an insight into their social class. For example, juror four was a stock broker and had on a fancy suit that you would see on someone that had money.
Another aspect of the play that I enjoyed was the setting. It was just as I had imagined it as I was reading the play. The set consisted of a large deliberation room with a long rectangular table, which had twelve wooden chairs. The stage also contained a fan atop a shelf that did not work. There was a bathroom that was connected to the wall. The bathroom would rotate in and out of the set, depending if it was the focus of the play. For example when juror eight was in the bathroom, and the other juror came in to talk him out of his non guilty plea, the wall rotated out so that the audience could see it taking place. The appearance of Judge Bucci was also impressive. He came out in his judge attire to set up the begging of the play and give the jurors their directions before sending them off to the deliberating...
