...1+1=2?The students are confused. “What’s your opinion?” Asks the professor. After a little silence, someone raises his hand.
“Well, I don’t quite agree. As a famous economic theory says when 2 companies are merged together, that could bring out higher productivity because it now has larger scale and lower costs. That is expressed in the equation 1+1>2”
His answer has brought up some dissenting views.
“I think there are big chances that 1+1 may result in sth smaller than 2, The football club real Madrid once had the most number of big-named football stars, but with limited cooperation between them, their alliance didn’t turn out to be as perfect as we had expected. That is to say, when you put2 powerful 1s together, they may even become less powerful than they used to be separately.”
The professor who has listened to all these arguments, now makes the comment, “Those who are now expecting the standard answer from me will be disappointed, since I don’t have one.
The most important part of this equation is the ?, it encourages you to rack your brains,and to speak out what you believe is right.

Now, if I ask you to think over the most boring and the most interesting and enlightening class you’ve had and make a comparison between the two, what can you find? As for me, it brings up 2 contrasting pictures, for the first one, there’s the teacher, referring to the script on the powerpoint, and we are supposed to take down everything he spoke and bear them in mind as authority. This class emphasizes very much on the recall of memorized factual information For the other one, instead of teaching, the professor invites us to think with him. instead of telling us 1+1=2, he puts a ? at the end of the equation, thus inviting us to voice freely what we believe is right.
