…Wallpaper by Charlotte Perkins to analyze as my Compare and Contrast Essay. I feel that there are differences as well as similarities in these short stories.
The author of the Yellow Wallpaper had many strong activist women in her life like Harriet Beecher Stowe who wrote Uncle Tom’s Cabin. The author writes The Yellow Wallpaper about a woman named Jane with post partum depression who is put on bed rest by her physician and her husband John, also a physician looks after her. Although Jane who soon after getting to her new house, due to her house being renovated, despises the color of the yellow wallpaper int the room she’s in. Jane doesn’t demand husband to get her out of the room or change the color. Jane complains a lot about how repulsive the paper is but she doesn’t ask her husband again about either changing the color or moving her down to another room. Jane becomes crazy because she thinks that John and his sister, Jenny are against her. Jane even tells Jenny not to come into the room because she thinks that she wants to look at the hideous yellow wallpaper.
